GLOBAL UNDERGROUND'S THE REMOTE DJ ASHLEY CASSELLE AKA ASHTRAX BACK IN BRISTOL
Flyer Design: Steve Farmer ©
Ashley Casselle shot into the consciousness of the nations dance floors with his first release the 'show me' EP by daydreamer which led to a dazzling and diverse range of production and remixes. He honed and perfected his intricate and absorbing production skills on artists as Peter Lazonby, Chris Issac Derrick Carter and D-ream whilst embracing progressive house scene with mixes for labels such as guerrilla and brute. Around this time fellow Hastings DJ and rising star John Digweed asked him to DJ in the alternative room at local night Bedrock where he would be given the scope to experiment and entertain in his own style, free from the often rigid restraints of peak time main room dance floors. This led to Ashley playing on Sasha and Digweed's highly acclaimed Northern Exposure Tour as well as a residency at Stuart Pattersons' West London deep house Club Rivera.
More recently Ashley can be found recording as Ashtrax, an outlet for his ever-evolving sound melting tech-house, break-beat and dirty grooves into a colourful mixture with co-producers James Christopher and Paul Greendale. Tracks such as Kafka or the sublime mix of label mate Paul Van Dyk's 'For an Angel' have found critical acclaim from many quarters and have paved the way for the latest installment of quality deviant releases. Helsinki/diversion encompasses the diverse range of darkly uplifting tunes that Ashley plays at his residency at Gatecrasher and across the UK's finer dance floors, including Bedrock where he regularly spins maintaining his long standing association with John Digweed. It is already a firm favourite with the likes of Sasha, Steve Lawler, Nick Warren and Timo Maas as well as gaining respect from London's break-beat mafia. Ashley has been spinning regularly on the Gatecrasher Global Sound System and has already featured in Japan, China, and Philippines and across Asia as well as making regular appearances at Gatecrasher's summer residency in Ibiza. Forthcoming tour dates will take Ashley to Korea, South Africa and USA - making him a true disciple of the Gatecrasher Global Sound System.
